As a result of COVID-19, the park was unable to host two popular fan festivals in 2021. Those events will now take place in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Lunar New Year celebrations begin on Jan. 21 and last for a full month, followed by the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival in March. In an article on the Disney Parks blog, the company describes the Lunar New Year celebration as “performances, special events; gastronomic pleasures; stunning décor; festive products and more.”

As the new moon in 2022 ushers in the Year of the Tiger, everyone’s favorite tiger, Tigger, will be a prominent figure during the event. Mulan and Mushu will be at the forefront of “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Celebration,” celebrating the next year with family, friends, and good fortune. Other Disney characters, such as Mickey and Minnie, the Three Little Pigs, and Raya from the new Disney film “Raya and the Last Dragon,” will also be in attendance for the celebration.

Asian cuisine will be featured in curated markets during the Lunar New Year festival. Lunar New Year-themed food and beverages will also be served at some of the park’s restaurants. In order to accommodate a dozen food and wine vendors, the park is being transformed from March 4 through April 26. Festivalgoers can expect a tantalizing sampling of the state’s best culinary offerings from all of California’s most renowned regions and communities.

Throughout the duration of the festival, chefs (including some celebrities) will give free demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday. Wine and mixology tastings will also be available as extra options for visitors. Those who want to experience all the festival has to offer can purchase a “Sip and Savor Pass,” which includes admission to all of the events.

You may expect to find Lunar New Year festivities going on all day and into the night between 10:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. every year.

Mulan’s Lunar New Year’s Procession is our favorite of all the entertainment. Mulan and Mushu (together with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and the Three Little Pigs) lead the procession on the waterfront.

A dragon, as well as musicians, martial artists, and dancers dressed in vibrant costumes, all join in on the fun for a truly spectacular event. Visitors to Paradise Gardens Park can also see the performers as they walk from Silly Symphony Swings to the waterfront stage for entertainment.

In Paradise Gardens Park, you may see authentic Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese dancers and musicians performing live. Paradise Garden Grill or the festival marketplaces are a great place to sample some of the festival’s delicacies while you watch them perform. You’ll see showtimes on signs around town.

Pre-show “Hurry Home — Lunar New Year Celebration” runs for six minutes before the nightly World of Color show. Mulan and Mushu star in this tale of love and loyalty conveyed through the use of water features, lighting, and music. There has been no word on when World of Color will return in 2022, and as far as we know, it will not be in time for the Lunar New Year.
