Lunar New Year celebrations begin on Jan. 21 and last for a full month, followed by the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival in March. In an article on the Disney Parks blog, the company describes the Lunar New Year celebration as “performances, special events; gastronomic pleasures; stunning décor; festive products and more.”
As the new moon in 2022 ushers in the Year of the Tiger, everyone’s favorite tiger, Tigger, will be a prominent figure during the event. Mulan and Mushu will be at the forefront of “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Celebration,” celebrating the next year with family, friends, and good fortune. Other Disney characters, such as Mickey and Minnie, the Three Little Pigs, and Raya from the new Disney film “Raya and the Last Dragon,” will also be in attendance for the celebration.
Asian cuisine will be featured in curated markets during the Lunar New Year festival. Lunar New Year-themed food and beverages will also be served at some of the park’s restaurants. In order to accommodate a dozen food and wine vendors, the park is being transformed from March 4 through April 26. Festivalgoers can expect a tantalizing sampling of the state’s best culinary offerings from all of California’s most renowned regions and communities.
Throughout the duration of the festival, chefs (including some celebrities) will give free demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday.
